Venue and Seating Information
The Independent, at 628 Divisadero Street, is an approximately 500-capacity general-admission venue. Its compact room and floor-level stage create a standing-room experience, with close sight lines and an intimate connection to the performers. There are no reserved seats unless a particular event specifies otherwise.
For the clearest chance to claim a spot near the stage, arrive early; popular shows can fill the floor quickly. The venue is also known for its acoustics, making the general-admission floor the main viewing area rather than a room divided into separate seating sections.
Parking Information
Parking can be limited on show nights, so consider transit or cycling as alternatives. MUNI lines 24, 21, and 5 stop within four blocks, and Bay Wheels stations are less than a block away. For drivers, common options include:
- Street parking on Divisadero Street: Limited spaces near the venue; metered parking is free after 6 p.m. according to the provided venue information. Check posted signs before leaving your vehicle.
- Nearby paid lots and garages: Several options are described as a two-to-five-minute walk away, with evening rates varying by location.
